Exact Uranus - Pluto Square Heliocentric (Sun-Centered) Chart Nov 22, 2013
It takes the Sun a couple minutes to cross the horizon, which translates to us being in the middle of 30 - 40 years of twilight between the end of our Dark Night of the Soul, and completely waking up to the next 13,000 years of Light. Unless you're an early riser.
Contemplating this Grand Cycle may be mind-boggling, considering that the high point (noon) of the last cycle was 19,500 years ago - Atlantis or Lemuria perhaps? But before we lose hope of achieving greatness before our next noon point 6,500 years from now, take comfort in knowing that we are fast approaching the high point of the Uranus-Pluto cycle.
The Dawn point of that cycle began with their conjunction in the 1960's. 2013 is the noon point, where Uranus has traveled 90 degrees from Pluto, and that exact point will be reached this November.
To better understand the Uranus-Pluto cycle, lets go deeper into what was going on at the "Dawning of the Age of Aquarius" in the 1960's, during which their last conjunction occurred.
We'll examine four areas of life.
We'll also look for similarities to the previous Uranus-Pluto conjunction in 1850.
To understand the events occuring during these periods, let's explore the symbolic meaning of the two planets involved, by looking at what was happening when each of them was discovered.
Uranus (Inspiration, Freedom, Liberation) was discovered in 1781 at the end of the American Revolutionary War, and just ahead of the French Revolution, a period which also saw extensive early research into the harnessing of electricity by Benjamin Franklin and others.
The shattering & illuminating power of a lightning bolt makes a good metaphor for Uranus.
Pluto was discovered in 1930, at the beginning of the Great Depression, and symbolizes Death, Transformation, & Rebirth into Spirit or God-Consciousness. A fascination with god-like powers expressed itself at that time, in the crudest of early forms, with the international surge of fascism leading up to World War II. At the same time, Superman and other Comic Book heroes gave us more kindly expressions of an immortal super-race of modern saviours with extraordinary powers.
The conjunction of Uranus and Pluto in the Free-Spirited 60's saw the War in Vietnam, several earth-shattering political assassinations, the Beatles, Hair, Woodstock, and the Birth of the Counter-Culture and Anti-War Movement.
This was the Dawn of the Age of Aquarius, and the seeds planted at that time are about to bear fruit.
Now is the square of Uranus & Pluto, the time to Solidify the Power of Inspiration.
A square, or 90 degree angle between two planets such as Uranus and Pluto, is like the noon point, symbolizing the most productive part of the daily cycle. The number 4 means manifestation. Four points defines a tetrahedron, a solid form, matter.
- Uranus aligned with Pluto for the entire decade of the 60's, its exact conjunction being Jan, 1966.
- Uranus is Freedom, Liberation, & Inspiration.
- Pluto is Death, Transformation, & Rebirth into Spirit / Cosmic Consciousness / Immortal Power.

We're looking at the chart from the perspective of the Sun. If you're not familiar with astrology charts, you might not realize how unusual and rare the level of symmetry is on the day that Uranus squares Pluto. Jupiter is joining the pattern in opposition to Pluto, making it a T-Square to Uranus, and then there are trines and sextiles of Mercury and Saturn to that opposition. How can we begin to understand this? For simplicity, let's think of it as a gift basket hidden under a pyramid. Since the Sun just passed this week over the Point of the Sphinx (Leo-Virgo cusp), I'm sure she is smiling at the thought. In this and future articles, we'll break the pattern down planet by planet.
Let's start by putting this 138-year Uranus-Pluto Cycle in the context of the larger Grand Cycle. In the years around the 2012 Shift of Ages, a cycle of nearly 26,000 years has been coming to an end, & Civilization as we know it has been breaking down around us. 1. Consciousness
So let's look at the evolution of consciousness during the earlier Uranus Pluto conjunction around 1850, and how that compares with the years around 1966. In 1851, N. C. Paul, a 19th-century Bengali physician and scientist, published his Treatise on Yoga Philosophy, the first attempt to link yoga and modern medicine, which introduced yoga to the Western world.
In the early 1960's, Richard Alpert & Timothy Leary, originally teaching at Harvard University, popularized the use of LSD to Turn on, Tune in, & Drop out. In 1967, Richard Alpert traveled to India, where he met his guru, Neem Karoli Baba, who gave him his new name, Ram Dass, who then wrote Be Here Now, inspiring many others to follow a similar path. These and countless other "Spiritual Liberations" & "Deaths, Transformations, & Rebirths" at the beginning of their respective cycles in the 1850's and 1960's heralded powerful spiritual movements soon to spread the globe.
During the exact week that Uranus precisely conjuncted Pluto in January, 1966, Ken Kesey, the Merry Pranksters, and the Grateful Dead, at their Acid Test party at the Fillmore in San Francisco, and at other events up and down the west coast that winter, gave out LSD and marijuana to thousands of partiers - usually their first time. The ripples emanating from those and similar parties that most of us baby-boomers eventually attended, some of whom still have consciousness, gave rise to the counter-culture, and the transition from the beat generation to the hippie movement, and much of what came later.
Many great visionaries of our era eventually partook of this rite of passage, including Steve Jobs, who said, "Doing LSD was one of the two or three most important things I have done in my life.", allowing him to "Think different."
For many, like Ram Dass, George Harrison, and others, LSD gave way to a Spiritual Path. The Beatles, who also popularized LSD (Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds), which had first opened them to Cosmic Consciousness, visited the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who weaned them from LSD by introducing them to Transcendental Meditation, an event which then popularized meditation for millions of westerners worldwide.
So if that's what happened at the conjunction, whats happening at the square? The failed War on Drugs, which started around the same time "drugs" became popular (LSD was made illegal in 1966), seems to have run its course. Two states are now establishing legal recreational cannabis, & many others have legal medical cannabis,
Recently, Sanjay Gupta, CNN's medical correspondent, & Barack Obama's first choice to be Surgeon General, reversed his opposition to marijuana use. Eric Holder, the Attorney General, called for abolishing harsh mandatory minimum sentences for drug-related crimes. I'd expect, in the next year or so, to see major federal reforms in this area.
2. Technology
A few years before the earlier Uranus Pluto cycle began in 1850, the Steve Jobs of that era was born - Thomas Edison, or maybe that was Nikola Tesla, born in 1856. Either way, in the years of the Uranus-Pluto square (following 1877), we got Edison's Phonograph, Light Bulb, Motion Picture Camera, and a system for electricity distribution, plus the Telephone from Alexander Graham Bell, and the first attempt at television (telephonoscope).
We can see how these developments build upon one another - as we approach the square again in 2013, the company founded by Edison, General Electric, is one of 6 companies controlling 90% of the media. That's a bit too successful of a manifestation. And along with the internet born in 1966, we see that Edison's motion picture cameras and recording devices, enhanced by Steve Jobs' computers and smart phones, are recording our every word and movement. But the internet, born in its earliest form in 1966, also gives all of us the freedom to challenge that monopoly on our own websites, blogs, YouTube, Webinars, Live Streaming events, etc.
¡Viva La Revolución!
In 1933, shortly after the discovery of Pluto, polyethylene, the most common plastic, was discovered, making it possible to create relatively indestructible objects, at first among household items, and later body parts. Add some superfoods, & in 2013, human immortality is now possible, if you can afford it.
After 2013, we are likely to see the culmination of all these inspired inventions, now in plastic form. Perhaps holographic 3-D computers shaped like crystal balls - no keyboard necessary since they respond to the human voice. Besides 3-D, theatres and internet will offer a feast for all the senses, not only sight and sound, but also taste, touch, and smell.
So this fall, with the square of Uranus & Pluto, is the time to see the fruition of all the inspired work we've been putting into our own projects that we've channeled from Spirit. Whether your life work was inspired during the sixties, or began later, this is when it all comes into form.
3. Civil Rights
This is one of the areas that's easiest to see correlations between the 1850 - 1877 and 1966 - 2013 periods.
In 1852 Harriet Beecher Stowe.published the anti-slavery novel Uncle Tom's Cabin, laying the groundwork for the Civil War, the Emancipation Proclamation, and the 13th Amendment. The Compromise of 1877 pulled federal troops out of state politics in the South, & the Jim Crow laws enacted between 1876 and 1965 led to conditions for African Americans inferior to those of white Americans.
In the 1960's, Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" Speech set a tone for the Civil Rights movement as similar to Uncle Tom's Cabin, and the Civil Rights Act was passed. Although we have an African-American president in 2013, key parts of the Civil Rights Act were repealed this year, leading to a similar setback as the Jim Crow laws. Two steps forward, one step back in each century.
In 1969, the Stonewall riots in Greenwich Village launched the gay liberation movement in the US. In 2013, we saw the end of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in the military, the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8 in California. 53% of Americans support Gay Marriage, and almost half of the LBGT community live in states where it's legal. Even the new Pope in 2013 said 'Who am i to judge Gay People'.
4. Financial / Political
In the 1850's, we had the Gold Rush, leading to the incorporation of San Francisco and Los Angeles. California became a state. As we said before in the section on Consciousness, San Francisco became the center of the Universe once again in the 1960's.
By the 1870's the US was gripped in the Long Depression, similar to our own recent history. The recovery began in 1878. Perhaps we'll see a similar recovery in the next few years to our own long "Recession".
In 2013, a small percentage of the elites control the vast majority of the world's wealth, but according to David Wilcock - " Financial Tyranny is Collapsing at Free-Fall Speed... It is an exciting opportunity to completely "start over" with the basic nature of civilization as we know it -- and build a much happier and healthier world."
With Bradley Manning, Wikileaks, and Edward Snowden - the Merry Pranksters of our day - exposing so far just the tip of the iceberg of a Global Surveillance State, there surely will be much more to come in the next few years. According to one website, "UFOs are being seen all over the world and high ranking Government, Air Force, Army, Navy officials, also Astronauts are now coming forward as witnesses to the UFO, ET (extraterrestrial), and free energy secrecy that has been withheld from the public for many years." Many, including Wilcock, expect that Full Disclosure is imminent.
In summary, we're in the midst of huge changes, with even bigger ones on the way, comparable to the changes brought about by the invention of the Telephone, Phonograph, Light Bulb, Motion Pictures, ant television that occured after the last Uranus-Pluto square of 1877. We'll discuss, in a future article, some of the other planetary aspects involved in the rare astrological pattern forming in November of 2013.
